My boyfriend doesn't cook much, but the one thing he does like to do is bake bread. I had the chance to write a review for The Bread Baker's Apprentice by Peter Reinhart, and I thought this would be a great book for him to learn more. Boy, was I right. Peter Reinhart has written 8 books about bread and baking. He's also won the James Beard Award for 3 of them. He is a baking instructor at Johnson and Wales University.

You get pictorial and written instructions on making all different bread shapes, and formulas for all different types of bread. The book is full of great pictures. There are tons of great bread recipes including bagels, Challah, ciabatta, marble rye, French, and English muffins. Each recipe includes detailed instructions, a recipe list including measurements in your usual a l cups and tablespoon measurements and also in grams and ounces, and percentages of ingredients.
