Garbanzo beans, or chick peas, are native to Asia and have been used for centuries. If you haven't tried them before, they are said to have a nut like flavor and buttery texture. They are known for being the main ingredient in many middle eastern and Indian dishes, such as hummus, falafel, and curry, but they are very versatile. I throw them in my salads pretty frequently. They are a great staple in a vegetarian diet. Chick peas are already a favorite in my house, however, I have never tried these type of dry beans before, only the ones in the can. I know that dry beans are healthier than something that comes out of a can, and these even more so because they are organic. Of course, sometimes I just go for convenience, however, though these may take a little more time in preparation, they are very fresh and tasty. The only problem I had with these beans was, never having used dry beans before, I didn't know really how to use them, and they came with no instructions. A quick Google search solved this problem, but I still would have loved to see some instructions on the bag. The beans do need to be soaked or cooked for a long time but it amazed me how much they grew in size. This bag goes a long long way. I used them to make an awesome tabouli type salad. I was very happy with them. They were crisp and flavorful and the bag will last for a long time. If you'd like to try some of these great organic chick peas you can find them on Amazon here.
I received this product for free for my honest review.
